DOS PALMAS (Two Palms)
We went to Dos Palmas for two last shake out dives before our two groups started our respective Cave 1 and cave 2 courses. We did both the downstream and upstream lines. This video shows the Downstream line.
Cave 2 Outcome
After a slight delay in the final day of the course we handed in our final exam in this morning and, we are pleased to say, have officially passed Cave 2. The course was tough but allot of fun and a great learning experience all held together masterfully by Fred Devos.
The rest of the day has been set aside for a little relaxation. Our plan is to laze on a white sand beach and possibly enjoy a...
C2 Day 3
We travelled past the town of Tulum, known for the majestic Mayan ruins, to cenote Mayan Blue. We did lost diver land drills before our dives to prepare for the possibility of a diver separating from the team.
Our first dive was along the A line/passage jumping of the main line into the “Death Arrow” passage. The name is a throw back to the early days when the line arrows in the...
C2 Day 2
We went directly to cenote Tajma Ha this morning for more line drills - lost line this time. Two dives were conducted, each time jumping off the main line into some spectacular side passage. How is it that floating weightlessly through a room of pure while limestone can be so beautiful?
This time it was our own gear that started to “break” on the dive. For then non divers a quick...
C2 Day 1
First day of C2 just about done. We started off with some theory after which we drove up the road to Cenote Eden where we did our swim test. After a quick lunch we did some line work on land and I’m happy to report we did not tie ourselves up in too many knots. After a briefing from Fred we entered the system on the River Run line and did a jump with some more navigation to reach Cenote...

ex-HMAS Brisbane
A group of UniDive club members brave the swell blown up by strong northerlies for a dive on the ex-HMAS Brisbane. Everyone had a great afternoon dive despite the choppy conditions and strong current. The low visibility created a really cool atmosphere on the wreck. Unfortunately we had to cancel our planned night dive due to the strong current. NEXT TIME!

Humpback Whale Not Pictured
On Saturday 13 October 2012, another small group of UniDivers visited the wreck of the SS St Paul. Beautiful weather and warm water made the diving easy and rewarding, but by far the highlight of the day was sharing part of our decompression with a Humpback whale (not on film! :). A truly breathtaking and amazing experience.
Once again we spent 30min on the bottom...

C2 Day 4
This morning we were back at Mayan Blue, this time to complete out circuit we had set up yesterday. We planned to start our dive down B tunnel and exiting A tunnel. Everything went according to plan and we reached our marker we left in the cave at our deepest point of penetration during yesterdays set up dive minutes before we would have had to turn around due to gas restrictions. We exited...

SS St Paul
On Saturday 8 September 2012, a small group of tech trained UniDivers spent the day out on Moreton Bay diving the wreck of the SS St Paul. The weather was beautiful, the seas mostly calm and we were treated to some close encounters with the local humpback whales—unfortunately only above water!
The St Paul, a steamer, sank in 1914 after hitting Smiths Rock off Cape Moreton, Moreton...

Something that sets us apart
There are many features of GUE that set us apart from other agencies. Style, course structures, equipment configuration, team diving to name just a few. But arguably it is our instructor core that is truly unique.
Not only does it take considerable effort, training and time to become a GUE instructor (sometimes years), our instructors are required to actively maintain both their own diving...
